This wooden gate post is treated with a general-purpose preservative to guard against rot, insect activity, mold, and fungi that cause blue-staining.
Concrete-In: To bury a Quorn Post, the hole should have a diameter of approximately 30cm and be one-third of the post’s length plus 20cm deep (i.e. on a 135cm post, the hole would be 45cm + 20cm = 65cm). If the post is too long, increase the hole’s depth or trim off any excess at the bottom before installing and seal with a preservative. After digging the hole, add 20cm of gravel for better drainage and to prolong the post’s lifespan. Place the post on the gravel and fill the remaining hole with concrete. Use a spirit level to ensure the post is vertical as you fill it with concrete. Verify the drying time of your chosen concrete and wait at least 24 hours for it to harden before hanging the gate.
